Iditarod
Quite a few of you know what has been going on with Iditarod and been checking in to see what we are doing. Boy I wish I had an answer for all your questions. Last year was alot easier. For the ones that don't know what is going on: I received an official letter stating that I was denied to run Iditarod a couple of months ago. Iditarod does not seem to think the rookies last year were very well prepared even though it was the worst weather in 30 years they say. So they decided to change the rules even though you are qualified they want the rookies to do another 300 mile race and get a report card from the race to be accepted. Quite a few of the races do not want to give out the report card which has made it more difficult to find a race close to home. Our problem is the entry fee is 4,000 dollars and after Oct. you dont get your money back. My question to them was what happens if the 300 does not get done what happens to the 4,000 dollars and they have never given me an answer to this date.
I don't want to disappoint any of my supporters, friends, or family. As of right now I am still entered and even have an airline ticket to the rookie meeting but cannot promise which way we are going. I do want to thank everyone for your support and the donations are certainly going for dog food. If I do not do Iditarod this year we are seriously considering changing races and doing the Quest which is another 1,000 mile race with an entry fee cheaper and they would acknowlege the miles I did on Iditarod (which Iditarod does not). Again thank you for your support and I will keep you informed.
